Christmas in July? Early Prep for the Holiday Season

The best holiday sales don’t start in December — they start in July. With the biggest shopping season just a few months away, now’s the time to get your store in order. A bit of forward thinking now means less chaos (and more sales) when things ramp up.

Audit and Refresh Your Listings

Take a good look at your current inventory. Are the titles accurate? Is the grading honest? Could the photos use an update? This is your chance to tidy things up and present your shop in the best light before traffic increases. Don’t forget to review your Shipping Policies and Seller Terms while you’re at it.

Restock Best-Sellers

Analyze what sold well last Q4 (October-December) — or what’s trending now — and make sure you’ve got copies on hand. Whether it’s perennial classics or niche favorites, the titles people want in November and December are often the ones you struggle to source last minute.

Stay Organized Now, Ship Faster Later

Having a clear fulfillment system now means fewer headaches later. Bag up popular items, keep your mailers and inserts stocked, and get into a rhythm so you’re not scrambling when the orders spike.

Keep Stock Moving with Gradual Discounts

If you’ve got records that have been hanging around a little too long, now’s the time to start easing them out. Consider setting a cadence for discounts — 10% off after three months, 15% after six months, 20% after nine months, and so on. It’s a light-touch way to keep inventory flowing without needing a full-blown promo strategy.

You don’t need to slash prices across the board. Just identify what’s not moving, apply subtle nudges, and keep your shelves — digital or physical — feeling fresh. By the time Q4 kicks in, you’ll have made room for higher-demand stock and saved yourself a bit of a scramble.

Explore the New Inventory Tool Beta

Our new Inventory Management System is designed to help you stay organised, price more intelligently, and track what’s selling. While it’s still evolving, many of the core features are already live and ready to use. Try it out and let us know how it’s working for you.
