The Marías

The Marías are a Los Angeles-based indie pop band celebrated for their lush fusion of soul, jazz, psychedelic rock, and bilingual English-Spanish lyrics. The group features María Zardoya (lead vocals), Josh Conway (drums, percussion, keyboards, synthesizers, production), Jesse Perlman (guitar), and Edward James (keyboards, synthesizers). Formed in 2016, they gained early acclaim with their debut EP Superclean Vol. I (2017), followed by Superclean Vol. II (2018), both showcasing their cinematic and dreamy style. Their debut album Cinema (2021) earned a Grammy nomination for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. In 2024, they expanded their sonic palette with the synth-rich Submarine, blending intimate storytelling with bold, atmospheric production.
