I don't have the 2021 reissue to compare, so this is my take on the 2024 remaster:
Side A Sexy Dance: no back noise, clear and crisp guitar. In fact, this one has the most precise sound of the late remasters on Takanaka. Drums are perfectly mixed, nothing extraordinary but is does and excellent job. Malibu: This is where things start to get really good. Perfect drums on front of you, precise and clear. General harmony, great song. An insatiable high: Wonderful song, lots of stuff happening at once. Brilliant percussions, really nice bass. Peak funk/jazz
Side B E.S.P.: insane tune, crispy guitar again, voices are very present. Again, drum seems the best part of this album so far. M5: Funny song, good harmonics, again guitar crisp and on point. I really like this song, for me the best song of the album. Sundrops: this time i feel a great separation between guitar and other instruments. Vocals are so sweet. Good (Bad?) Old days: Great job on the mastering on drums. Strange but i hear the guitar this time not so crisp, very analog if I can say so. Could be that it is the last song. I think is a little noise. Overall pleasant sound.
Wonder how this sounds compared to the 2021 release. This one was remastered and cut by Alex Wharton from Abbey Road Studios using the studio master tapes. I believe the master tapes were also used in 2021 but I wonder if Alex's remaster changes lot of stuff for the better (hopefully). Thanks!
