I'm glad you brought up the stereo version from the 33 RPM Music Matters pressing of this incredible album as being something of well deserved merit. It smokes the Japanese stereo pressing and is the most amazing stereo recreation of this iconic LP from the golden age.
Unless you've heard it, please don't comment! If you did, I'd love to know what you thought (as it will help me gauge my hearing loss if you're in disagreement).

As I listen to it now, I am compelled to say mono.- I'll be disagreeing with you Mr. Babar (two B's just not together)...While much can be said about this series of BN from Japan your description of veiled and muddy doesn't agree with my experience even remotely - potentially yours needs a clean? I can understand maybe the soundstage and separation because they aren't Rudy's best work, not sure if this session was an off day... but the bass on this press is there and Lee's horn shines for sure...

Is this release in stereo or mono? I am considering getting it as a cheap alternative to the Music Matters edition or an OG. Thanks in advance!- This is an excellent sounding SACD.
HOWEVER (and of course this is no fault with this reissue) but the drummers pedal needs some oil, the squeaking is driving me insane!

How about a BN80 Stereo version for $24.99? I’ve got a few mono copies including the great 45rpm but I’d be in for that!
